Signing in and out of HBO GO on your TV

How do I sign in on my TV?

Apple TV (4th gen or later): See Signing in on Apple TV with tvOS

Other TV devices (Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV 2nd/3rd gen, PlayStation, Roku, Samsung TV, TiVo, Xbox 360 and Xbox One): Follow the steps below 

To sign in on your TV, you need the following:

  • A phone or computer
  • The username and password for your TV provider account

Here's how to sign in to HBO GO on your TV:

  1. Open the HBO GO app on your TV and from Welcome choose Sign In. Stay on this screen while you grab your phone or a computer.
  2. Open a web browser on your phone or a computer.
  3. In your browser's address bar, type HBOGO.com/tvsignin. This url redirects to activate.HBOGO.com.
  4. Enter the code that appears on your TV, and then choose Next.
  5. Choose your TV provider.

  6. Sign in to your TV provider account (enter the username and password for your TV provider account). Don't know your username or password? Contact your TV provider.
  7. First time signing in? We'll ask you to create a profile:

    1. Enter an HBO GO ID; this is a unique username for your HBO GO profile (and is not used for signing in). It must be between 3-14 characters and can't include spaces or special characters.
    2. Enter your email address and ZIP code (these fields are optional).
    3. Choose Create Profile.

Your TV screen will update and you're ready to stream HBO GO. 

Can't sign in on my TV

If you can't sign in to HBO GO on your TV (Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV 2nd/3rd gen, PlayStation, Roku, Samsung TV, TiVo, Xbox 360 and Xbox One), try the following steps:

Step 1: Try a different browser

Try the TV sign-in steps above using a different browser: FireFox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.

Step 2: Switch devices

If you used your phone to go to HBOGO.com/tvsignin, try using your computer instead (or vice versa).

Step 3: Sign in at HBOGO.com first

Sign in at HBOGO.com and then sign in on your TV. Here's how:

  1. Exit the HBO GO app on your TV.
  2. On your computer, go to HBOGO.com and in the upper-right corner, choose Sign In.
  3. Choose your TV provider or college from the list of providers.
  4. Enter the username and password for your TV provider account. If you don't know your username and password, contact your TV provider. If you can't sign in at HBOGO.com, see Can't sign in to HBO GO.
  5. Once you're signed in on your computer, reopen HBO GO on your TV.
  6. From Welcome, choose Sign In.
  7. On your computer, open a new browser tab and type HBOGO.com/tvsignin. This url redirects to activate.HBOGO.com.
  8. Enter the code that appears on your TV, and then choose Next.
  9. Choose your TV provider and then sign in to your TV provider account (enter the username and password for your TV provider account).

Your TV screen should update and you're ready to stream HBO GO.

Where do I enter the code from my TV?

If you go to HBOGO.com/tvsignin on your phone or computer and you don't see an Enter Code screen, try the following:

  • Type the full url in your browser's address bar instead of the search box (e.g. http://HBOGO.com/tvsignin).
  • If you used your phone to go to HBOGO.com/tvsignin, try using your computer instead (or vice versa). See Step 3 in the Sign-in steps above.
  • Try using a different browser: FireFox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.

Code from my TV is incorrect or didn't work

If the code from your TV didn't work, try the following:

  • If you used your phone to go to HBOGO.com/tvsignin, try using your computer instead (or vice versa). See Step 3 in the Sign-in steps above.
  • Try using another browser: FireFox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, or Safari.

 If the code still doesn't work, try the following:

  1. Exit the HBO GO app on your TV.
  2. On your computer, go to HBOGO.com and in the upper-right corner, choose Sign In.
  3. Choose your TV provider or college from the list of providers.
  4. Enter the username and password for your TV provider account. If you don't know your username and password, contact your TV provider. If you can't sign in on at HBOGO.com, see Can't sign in to HBO GO.
  5. Once you're signed in on your computer, reopen HBO GO on your TV.
  6. From Welcome, choose Sign In.
  7. On your computer, open a new browser tab and go to HBOGO.com/tvsignin.
  8. Enter the code that appears on your TV, and then choose Next.

    If the TV code still doesn't work, try clearing your browser's cookies for activate.HBOGO.com and play.HBOGO.com. To find out how to do this, search your browser's help for 'cookies.'

  9. Choose your TV provider and then sign in to your TV provider account (enter the username and password for your TV provider account).

If you still can't sign in, try clearing your browser's cache. To find out how to do this, search your browser's help for 'clear cache.'

How do I sign out?

To sign out of HBO GO, do one of the following:

  • Go to Settings choose Deactivate HBO GO and then Deactivate Now.
  • Go to Settings and choose Sign Out
