Activation issues on Android TV

If you're having issues activating your Android TV, first try the troubleshooting steps in I can't activate a device using my computer. If those steps don't work, follow the steps below, checking in between each step to see if you can activate your Android TV

Step 1: Clear the cache and data

  1. On your Android TV, go to Settings > Apps.
  2. Under Downloaded, find and select HBO GO.
  3. Select Clear cache, and then select OK to confirm.
  4. Select Clear data, and then select OK to confirm.

Try activating your Android TV again. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 2: Uninstall and reinstall HBO GO

  1. On your Android TV, go back to Settings > Apps.
  2. Under Downloaded, find and select HBO GO.
  3. Select Uninstall, and then select OK to confirm.
  4. Go to the Google Play Store, find the HBO GO app, then choose Install.

Try activating your Android TV again. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 3: Restart/reset your Android TV

If you're still having activation issues, try restarting your Android TV, or reset it to its factory settings (check the instructions your device came with).

To restart your Android TV, turn it off, unplug your TV for five minutes, then plug it back in and try activating again. To restart a Sony Bravia TV, hold down the power button on the remote.

Why do I have to reactivate my Android TV?

All TV Providers require users to reactivate their HBO devices periodically as a security measure.
