Issues with Signing In

If you're having issues signing in to your 4th generation Apple TV, follow the steps below in order, checking in between each step to see if you can sign in. For instructions on how to sign in, go to Signing in and out of HBO GO on Apple TV.

Step 1: Restart the HBO GO app

  1. Double tap the home button on your remote.
  2. Tap and swipe HBO GO up and off the screen to close it.  
  3. From the Home screen, choose HBO GO to restart the app.

Try signing in to your Apple TV. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 2: Restart your Apple TV

Restart your Apple TV by navigating to Settings > System > Restart.

Try signing in to your Apple TV. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 3: Update your Apple TV software

Make sure that your Apple TV software is up to date by navigating to Settings > System > Software Updates.

Try signing in to your Apple TV. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 4: Delete and reinstall HBO GO

  1. From the Home screen, move the selection to the HBO GO app.
  2. Press and hold the Touch surface for two seconds and then press the Play/Pause button.
  3. Choose Delete.
  4. Go to the App Store to reinstall HBO GO.

Try signing in to your Apple TV. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 5: Reset your Apple TV

Reset your Apple TV by navigating to Settings > System > Reset & Update.

Why do I have to sign back into my Apple TV?

All TV Providers require users to reactivate their HBO devices periodically as a security measure.
