Activation issues on Amazon Fire TV

If you're having issues activating your Amazon Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, or Fire TV Cube, first try the troubleshooting steps in I can't activate a device using my computer. If those steps don't work, follow the steps below, checking in between each step to see if you can activate your Amazon Fire TV:

Step 1: Clear the cache and data

  1. On your Fire TV, go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > HBO GO.
  2. Select Force Stop, and then select OK to confirm.
  3. Select Clear data, and then select OK to confirm.
  4. Select Clear cache, and then select OK to confirm.

Try activating your Fire TV again. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 2: Uninstall/reinstall HBO GO

  1. Remove the HBO GO app from the device.
  2. Restart the device by disconnecting and reconnecting the power supply.
  3. Download HBO GO from the Amazon Fire TV app store.

Try activating your Fire TV again. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 3: Reset your Fire TV

If you still can't activate, try resetting the device by going to Settings > Device > Restart. Then run all available software updates and retry activation.

Why do I have to reactivate my Amazon Fire TV?

All TV Providers require users to reactivate their HBO devices periodically as a security measure.
