Troubleshoot HBO GO on a Kindle Fire tablet

If you're having issues with HBO GO on your Kindle Fire tablet, try the steps below, retrying the action that wasn't working after each step.

Step 1: Check your internet connection

HBO GO requires a constant Internet connection of 3.0 Mbps or greater to stream video. If videos frequently buffer or are poor quality, a slow or inconsistent network connection might be the cause. To check your network speed:

  1. On the Home screen, swipe down and tap the wireless icon.
  2. Tap the network that you're connected to.
  3. Check your signal strength and link speed (you need to have a minimum of 3 Mbps).

Step 2: Restart your Kindle Fire

  1. Hold down the power button until you're prompted to shut down your tablet (turn the tablet off, instead of putting it in sleep mode).
  2. Wait at least 20 seconds.
  3. Turn your tablet back on.
  4. Start the HBO GO app.

Step 3: Clear the cache and data

  1. From Home, go to Settings > Applications > Manage All Applications.
  2. Tap HBO GO from the list of apps.
  3. Tap Force Stop.
  4. Tap Clear Cache.
  5. Tap Clear Data.
  6. Go back to the Home screen and restart HBO GO.

Step 4: Uninstall and reinstall HBO GO

  1. From Home, go to Settings > Applications > Manage All Applications.
  2. Tap HBO GO from the list of apps.
  3. Tap Uninstall and then OK.
  4. Download and reinstall HBO GO from the Amazon Appstore.
