Frequently asked questions about shows and movies on HBO GO

How can I find out about upcoming shows and movies?

There are a few ways you can find out about new HBO shows and movies:

  • To see what's new, go to HBO.com.
  • In the HBO GO app, go to Collections, or at HBOGO.com go to More > Collections. Choose the Just Added, New Episodes, or the Coming Soon collection.
  • Sign up for the HBO GO newsletter which include show and movie recommendations.

When can I watch new episodes of shows on HBO GO?

Most new movies and shows, such as Game of Thrones, are available on HBO GO when they premieres on TV. To find out when new episodes will be available, go to HBO.com and search for a series.

Ongoing shows that are part of an HBO reality series are not available when they premiere on TV. Instead, they're added to HBO GO as quickly as possible, typically within 24 hours. Below are estimated times when each show will be available on HBO GO. Actual times will vary.

  • 24/7: 5 PM ET, next day
  • Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: 2 AM ET, Mondays
  • Pod Save America: 7 AM ET, Saturdays
  • Real Time with Bill Maher: 7 AM ET, Saturdays
  • Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel: 5 PM ET, Wednesdays
  • The Fight Game with Jim Lampley: 6 AM ET, next day
  • VICE News Tonight and VICE News Weekly: see Vice Series on HBO GO
  • World Championship Boxing and Boxing After Dark: Noon ET, Tuesdays

Can I watch live shows and events?

With the exception of VICE News Tonight, HBO GO doesn't stream live content. Most pre-recorded shows are available on HBO GO within minutes of the broadcast start time, though new content may take up to an hour to become available across all devices. HBO's live shows and events require time to be prepared for HBO GO. Such content is normally available within 24 hours of the original broadcast, though boxing events can take longer.

Why isn't a show or movie available?

If an episode in a series is missing, go to the app store on your device and see if there's an update for the HBO GO app. If available, download the latest version of HBO GO. Episodes that are part of an HBO reality series are not available when they premiere on TV (see the list of shows above).

Some movies and shows are only available for a limited time due to agreements with programming providers. For example, only the 30 most recent episodes of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver are available on HBO GO.

Past seasons of Hard Knocks are not available on HBO GO due to streaming rights. We aim to provide the most robust offerings and will continue to bring high-quality programs to our streaming services as rights permit.

Shows and movies that are no longer available on HBO GO are automatically removed from My List or Watchlist. For more info, see Why are some items missing from My List?

Can I watch shows or movies offline?

No, HBO GO doesn't currently let you download shows and movies to watch offline.

Can I watch HBO series from Europe, Asia, or Latin America?

Yes. Some of HBO's acclaimed international, original series from HBO Europe, HBO Asia, and HBO Latin America are available on HBO GO.

To see which international series are available to stream, open HBO GO and go to Series, then choose International or Latino.

You can choose to watch a Latino series in English (Spanish audio and English subtitles) or in Spanish (Spanish audio, without English subtitles). For more info about this, see Watch a show or movie in Spanish.

Can I purchase HBO GO shows on a pay-per view basis?
