Activation issues on Samsung TV

If you're having issues activating your Samsung TV, first try the troubleshooting steps in I can't activate a device using my computer. If those steps don't work, follow the steps below, checking in between each step to see if you can activate your TV:

Step 1: Uninstall/Reinstall HBO GO

  1. Uninstall the HBO GO app from your Samsung TV. (For step-by-step instructions, go to How to uninstall applications from SMART TV.)
  2. Turn your Samsung TV off, and then turn it back on again.
  3. Install available software and Smart Hub updates. (For step-by-step instructions on how to update the firmware or restore the Smart Hub to the default settings, go to samsung.com/appstore/support.)
  4. Install the HBO GO app. (For step-by-step instructions, go to How do I install an app through the Smart Hub.)

Now try activating HBO GO on your Samsung TV again. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 2: Reset your Samsung TV

If you still can't activate your Samsung TV, try restoring your device to the default settings, updating the software to the latest version, and then reinstalling the HBO GO app.

Now try activating HBO GO on your Samsung TV again. If you still can't, move onto the next step.

Step 3: Unplug your Samsung TV

If you still can't activate, try unplugging your Samsung TV for 3 minutes, then plugging it back in and trying to activate.

Why do I have to reactivate my Samsung TV?

All TV Providers require users to reactivate their HBO devices periodically as a security measure.
